Growing Gardeners Summer Camp
For the past two summers Susan Devine and Teri Yount have co-lead the School Gardening Club summer enrichment program. The program provides students with a hands on learning approach that aims to teach students what it takes to grow their own food. The garden includes fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, lettuce, radishes, peas, and kale to name a few. The program not only teaches students how to grow their own food, but it promotes healthy eating because it allows them to experiment by trying healthy foods that they may have been hesitant about trying before this program. Many thanks to the Advancement Center for supporting this program and recognizing the value in garden-based learning and experiential education. This program helps kids connect to how their food is grown and encourages them to try new foods all while having fun!
